Conducted by Sally Glick, President, ACG New Jersey Principal and Chief Growth Strategist, SobelCo
John Meccia, CEO and Founder of CMS Technology, is an entrepreneurial executive with extensive experience leading sales, marketing ,manufacturing and technical operations at the regional, corporate and international level for both start-up and established businesses.
On June 18, 2019 at the ACG NJ monthly meeting he will draw on his years of experience at starting and growing dynamic and innovative companies. During his presentation John will share what he has learned over the years regarding identifying sources of funding from the pre-market first step through all the subsequent stages of a company’s development, including the proof of concept and growth phases.
Funding demands change and evolve from the early stages through later stage situations and smart business leaders quickly learn how to attract investors and funders who will take a change on a start-up, making the case and building a trusting relationship. But going forward there are a multitude of avenues for generating additional revenue in each unique situation.
As an experienced CEO, John offers a strategic perspective from the 30,000 foot level, but at the same time he is equally as comfortable at the grass roots level where the action takes place.
His final words of advice?
- People don’t invest in ideas. People invest in people.
- Entrepreneurs need to demonstrate integrity, a genuine desire and passion to succeed, and an honest attitude.
- Investors expect the entrepreneurs to have some ‘skin in the game’ – including having an investment commensurate with the risk.
- Each stage of the business’ life cycle, from pre-start up to established growth and maturity has a unique funding requirements that must be taken into consideration.
